The Preschool Administration is a young department with extensive collective knowledge and competence that builds the future. Tens of thousands of children attend preschools in Stockholm. Their everyday lives and their futures are our mission. We work for the best possible preschool, and therefore we maintain contact with all those who run preschools in Stockholm's eleven districts – whether they are municipal or privately operated.
Currently, we have nearly 80 employees working in various areas of expertise such as supervision and licensing, law, finance, and development in all areas of preschool. We are now looking for an administrative strategy for operational planning and follow-up as well as political coordination.
Welcome to us! The Preschool Administration consists of four departments; the authority department, the inter-city development department, the finance and management department, and the management support and IT department. In the administration, we collaborate between departments to ensure that our work provides the best possible service and development to all preschools in Stockholm.
As an administrative strategy, you will report directly to the head of administration.

Your role as an administrative strategist
The strategist's mission is to provide the administration management and the political branch with the best possible conditions for operational planning, follow-up, and structured communication and dialogue regarding the preschool committee's mission.
In your work, you will coordinate, together with the branch, meetings, majority meetings, industry councils, and be the recipient of questions and feedback on committee matters. Your mission includes helping to interpret, understand, and clarify both the civil service organization and the political perspectives in various contexts.
You will coordinate, based on the city's system for integrated management and governance, the administration's work with operational planning and follow-up. You are responsible for and follow up on the content for, among other things, the operational plan, quarterly reports, and annual reports. You ensure that the administration delivers in the planning and follow-up process according to decisions and timelines and that the documents follow the structure set by the city for the work. Your role also includes, if necessary, conducting investigations and responding to, for example, letters and referrals in the form of service statements as well as writing reports.
To thrive in the role, it is important that you appreciate both having the coordinating responsibility and independently writing texts and compiling documents. The work requires good collaboration skills, high presence and listening, and quick and attentive handling of questions. It assumes that you are available and work strategically and are not caught up in the occasionally high pace that may arise. The work is long-term, and you create structures that work even if conditions change as the administration grows or if the political leadership changes.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- relevant university degree for the position
- several years of experience working in a politically governed organization
- current experience working with coordination, preparing matters, writing service statements and investigations for the committee
- experience leading workgroups and/or projects
- worked with investigative tasks and conducted various types of analyses
- very good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing as required in daily work
- high digital maturity, experienced user of the Office suite and management systems such as Stratsys.
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience in a similar role where you have worked closely with management within municipal operations, preferably within the City of Stockholm
- good knowledge of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Education Act, and the preschool curriculum.

You work in a structured and systematic manner and plan and prioritize your work effectively based on set goals, structures, and timelines. To succeed in the role, it is important that you have good analytical skills, pay attention to details, and have the ability to find solutions with the whole and the larger perspective in focus. Furthermore, you have good linguistic analytical skills and produce high-quality documents.
